The 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, Canada had lot of memorable moments and this included John Cena announcing that he will retire from in-ring competition next year. With that in mind, Cena has now addressed the possibility of facing The Rock again before he retires.

John Cena and The Rock had several confrontations over the years in WWE, as they also had two memorable matches at WrestleMania. They even had a confrontation at WrestleMania 40 this year, where The Great One took out John Cena.

While speaking during the post-Money in the Bank press conference, John Cena was asked if he wanted to have one final match against The Rock after their confrontation back at WrestleMania 40.

“The last time we saw you was at WrestleMania when you went face-to-face with The Rock. It seems like there was unfinished business there. Do you have an idea of who your final opponent would be? Do you think you and The Rock can have one final dance? Would you like to face someone else you have not faced yet from the past or present?”

The 16-time World Champion acknowledged that there’s always unfinished business in professional wrestling. However, Cena also gave emphasis to the fact that he prefers not to cherry-pick his opponents. Instead, he expressed a desire to craft compelling stories with whatever creative direction WWE has for him.

“Great question. Umm, there’s always unfinished business in the WWE, which probably makes this announcement extremely surprising cause I’m trying to close up shop here. I don’t and have never put much stock in expectations that are beyond my control and I’ve tried to lead in existence where I can control what I can. And I am in no position to hand-pick opponents. I’ve always had a wonderful time challenging myself, telling stories with whatever hand I was dealt. So I think that’s part of the allure and part of the excitement of what we’re about to embark on is stories we can’t tell and hopefully who’s gonna show up. We’ll see.”

The Rock has not been since the RAW after WrestleMania 40, but he is expected to compete at WrestleMania 41. We will have to wait and see whether The Leader of Cenation and The Great One will have one last match before Cena retires for good.
