Former WWE Superstar Hornswoggle was one of the mainstays of WWE television during the mid to late 2000s and was involved in many storylines, including a major one with Vince McMahon. In fact, it appears McMahon was supposed to have a match at WrestleMania 24 as well.

Hornswoggle started his WWE from 2006 until his departure back in 2016. During that time, he has given fans numerous memorable moments and solid segments that fans will never forget.

At WrestleMania 24 in 2008, JBL faced off against Fit Finlay, who was accompanied by his storyline son, Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle, who had also been portrayed as Vince McMahon’s illegitimate son in 2007, shared insights about the original plans for the WrestleMania match on “Insight with Chris Van Vliet.”

Hornswoggle revealed that initially, Fit Finlay was supposed to square off against Vince McMahon at the Showcase of The Immortals for the WWE Championship.

“I had that entrance and I just saw faces. And we had the whole thing with Bradshaw in that match. And it was such an awesome story, I come to find out years later it was supposed to be Finlay and Vince at that Wrestlemania. Not only that, but they were going to try to make it for a WWE title. I was like, man, if it was against Vince, the JBL match was enormous, build to it and everything. If it was against Vince, can you imagine how much of that build would have been like at that time? Yeah.

But man, I am very grateful, the match was so fun. And JBL is just the man. He’s the absolute man. And he’d been nothing but great with me. There’s a spot with a trash can in that match that wasn’t talked about. Literally, the last second I saved my own life by just going no, he just whips his trash can because he saw me that’s him thinking on the fly. And he whips the trash can. I had no idea of it. It wasn’t talked about. But it’s like the highlight of the match.”

Hornswoggle would also love to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame one day. Regardless, many fans feel Vince McMahon not competing at WrestleMania 24 turned out to be the best course of order for the company at the time.
