Ilja Dragunov reigned supreme as the NXT Champion but lost it to Trick Williams last month and would then get called up to RAW. He competed in the second round of the King of The Ring tournament but lost to Jey Uso. Following his shocking defeat, Dragunov channeled Shawn Michaels as he sent a warning to the WWE locker room.
In the main event of this week’s episode of WWE RAW, Ilja Dragunov suffered his first defeat since joining the RAW roster, losing to Jey Uso in quarterfinal match of the King of the Ring tournament.
Reflecting on his loss in a RAW Exclusive interview after the show, The Mad Dragon expressed frustration tempered with respect for ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso. He went on to state that when he’s in pain, he is a complete monster.
“What can I say? It’s frustrating, no doubt. But is there really shame in losing to someone like the ‘Main Event’? All I know is, right now, I’m tired, I’m hurting, but that’s when I become an even bigger threat in this ring. When I’m in pain, I’m a complete monster.”
Asked for his thoughts on the upcoming semi-final clash between Gunther and Jey Uso, Dragunov commended both competitors but then quoted Shawn Michaels as he sent a powerful warning to the WWE locker room.
“Predictions? I mean, they’re both like the absolute bar. The only prediction I can make is for myself, and this prediction is, no one is safe anymore. To quote Shawn Michaels, ‘I’m what the kids call a real problem.”
We will have to wait and see what WWE will have planned for Ilja Dragunov following his shocking defeat, as fans are very disappointed they won’t get to see Dragunov and Gunther battle it out again.
