AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland had a thought plan to combat the threat of his new rival, Christian Cage, and his Patriarchy. However, Strickland’s plan backfired big time with Cage outsmarting his upcoming opponent at Double or Nothing.

The owner of Swerve’s house came on tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite to address Christian Cage’s assault last week. He did not shy away from acknowledging the beatdown and claimed that he would have done the same to Christian as well before vowing to take care of business in their title match at AEW Double or Nothing.

Following that, Christian Cage and his stable made their way down the aisle. The Patriarch proclaimed that he was the top face of AEW and its networks and would become the next AEW World Champion. As he and his family, comprising Killswitch, Shayna and Nick Wayne inched towards a potential attack on Swerve, his backup arrived in the form of Brian Cage, Toa Liona, and Bishop Kaun.

But to the shock of the fans, Swerve’s backup turned on him only launching a brutal assault on the AEW World Champion inside the ring and putting an exclamation point by dropping Swerve Strickland onto the announcer’s table with Christian Cage enjoying the sight of his upcoming opponent beaten down.
