Sabu Returned $300 Deposit After No-Showing 2024 Indie Hall of Fame

Sabu retired from in-ring competition two years ago following an injury, marking the end of a storied chapter in his wrestling career. He no-showed the 2024 Indie Hall of Fame and it has now been revealed that he returned the deposit as well.

The class of 2024 saw GCW induct notable names such as the Briscoes, Trent Acid, Mercedes Martinez, and others into the Indie Hall of Fame. However, Sabu, one of the most anticipated inductees, ended up drawing significant attention for his absence from the ceremony. Although he was set to be honored and inducted into the Hall of Fame, Sabu did not make an appearance on stage during the event. His absence led to speculation and questions surrounding his reasons for not attending the ceremony.

GCW Promoter Brett Lauderdale addressed Sabu’s decision and respected it, noting that he had no hard feelings on the matter. On Thursday night, Lauderdale took to Twitter and revealed that Sabu had returned the $300 deposit for the Indie Hall of Fame ceremony. Instead of keeping the money, Lauderdale decided to donate it to The William Way LGBT Community Center, supporting the organization’s work within the community.

”Tonight, Sabu reached out to GCW & returned the deposit ($300) he received for the Indie Hall of Fame. I appreciate the gesture & want to thank/reiterate my respect for Sabu. I’ve decided to redirect the money in the form of a donation to The William Way LGBT Community Center.”

This is certainly great to hear that Sabu ultimately returned back the deposit and it was used for a good case. Therefore, one can say that this saga had a happy ending.
