Gable Steveson inked deal with WWE long ago and it took time a considerable amount of time for him to even compete in the ring. Lately, he has been competing in dark matches but has had nothing on television for a long time. While Steveson’s WWE television status remains uncertain, his status in WWE has now been confirmed.

Gable Steveson made a surprise appearance at the WWE SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution event held in Vancouver. He was involved in a dark match against Cedric Alexander before the main event but nothing more than that.

According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there’s been a quiet development behind the scenes regarding Gable Steveson and Tamyra Mensah-Stock. Both wrestlers are listed for the Olympic trials scheduled for April 19th and 20th at Penn State. However, their inclusion as qualifiers for the tournament doesn’t necessarily indicate their participation; it simply means they have the option to compete as 2021 Olympic gold medalists.

Meltzer expressed skepticism about their involvement, stating that while the company would support them if they chose to compete, there hasn’t been confirmation that they will indeed participate.

”In something very quiet behind the scenes, both Gable Steveson and Tamyra Mensah-Stock are listed for the Olympic trials which take place 4/19 and 4/20 at Penn State. Now, they are listed as qualifiers for the tournament but that doesn’t mean they will be competing, only that they can, as 2021 Olympic gold medalists. I don’t expect it. I was told the company would be behind them if they wanted to do it but not that they were doing it.”

Mensah-Stock made her highly anticipated in-ring debut at the NXT live event on March 30 and has been getting rave reviews backstage as well. It remains to be seen what the future holds for both Stock and Steveson in the coming months.
