The addition of Mercedes Mone to AEW has sparked a notable shift in the promotion’s landscape. As a prominent figure in the history of the Jacksonville-based organization, her arrival has created significant excitement. She has now responded to claims of being wrestling’s top-paid female athlete.

Mercedes Mone’s decision to join AEW instead of returning to WWE was influenced by her pursuit of a higher salary. As per Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the former 7-time WWE Women’s champion sought a salary comparable to her contemporary, Becky Lynch.

However, WWE’s offer fell short of her expectations. In contrast, AEW President Tony Khan presented substantial financial package, making her the highest-paid woman in professional wrestling. Despite not reaching the rumored $5 million per year figure circulating online, the offer from AEW proved to be more lucrative and appealing to Mercedes.

While speaking to James Stewart on Stick to Wrestling, Mercedes expressed her sentiments regarding reportedly being the highest-paid female in wrestling and made it clear she deserves it.

“That sounds beautiful. My name is Mercedes Mone for a reason.”

Mercedes Mone also stated that she is all about ‘that bag.’ We will have to wait and see whether Mone will end up starting a revolution in women’s wrestling so that everyone gets paid more in the end.
