WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry is an iconic figure in professional wrestling. Known as “The World’s Strongest Man,” Henry shocked fans with his shocking fake retirement speech on WWE Raw back in 2013. To this day, wrestling fans continue to talk about the iconic encounter between Mark Henry and John Cena on the June 17, 2013 episode of Raw.

In case you need a refresher, Henry, dressed in a salmon suit, took the center stage to announce his retirement from professional wrestling, much to the surprise of fans. John Cena, who was the WWE Champion at the time, participated in the segment and helped fans give Henry a proper sendoff. However, it all culminated in a dramatic turn as Henry attacked Cena, revealing the retirement speech to be a ruse.

Recently, his son, Jacob Henry revealed his own surprise and disbelief at his father’s infamous fake retirement. In a new tweet, Jacob Henry admitted that he was just as fooled as anyone else by his father’s act.

“I 100% agree.” Henry said in a reply to a tweet stating that Mark Henry had done irreversible damage to retirement speeches. “As his son I can say that I was just as much fooled as anyone else.”

Since his exit from WWE, Henry has gone to sign a multi-year deal with AEW. He made his debut for the promotion on May 30, 2021, at Double or Nothing where it was announced that he will be a part of the commentary team for its new show AEW Rampage, as well as a coach. He last stepped inside the squared circle in 2018, as he was an entrant in the Greatest Royal Rumble match. It remains to be seen what he does next!
