Xia Brookside walked into TNA Lockdown 2026 as Knockouts World Champion and escaped Chicago with the title still around her waist, but the Credit Union 1 Arena crowd made it crystal clear they hated how she got there.
Brookside defended against Chicago native Elayna Black inside the steel cage on August 23, and Black had the hometown crowd firmly behind her from the second she came out. TNA noted that Black had plenty of family and friends in attendance, including her parents and grandmother, while Brookside wasted no time getting under everyone’s skin by trashing Chicago at the bell.
Things got ugly fast. Brookside sent Black crashing into the cage, ripped a belt off her and used the pointed end to open her up. The crowd responded by chanting “You sick f***” at Brookside, who answered by licking the belt before continuing the attack.
Black still refused to stay down. She became the first wrestler to kick out of Brookside’s Dark Side before nearly stealing the championship with Blackout. The finish came when Brookside tried using powder, Black ducked and rolled her up, but Brookside survived. Xia then went for the powder again and caught Black in a roll-up for the three-count to retain the Knockouts World Championship.
That finish did not sit well with Chicago. The hometown crowd erupted in boos as Brookside escaped with her championship, with the reaction making it clear fans wanted to see Black complete the hometown title win.
Brookside may have survived Elayna Black and left Lockdown still holding the gold, but she certainly didn’t leave with the approval of the Chicago crowd. If anything, retaining the title in Black’s hometown only gave fans another reason to want to see somebody finally knock her off the top of the Knockouts division.
