Ronda Rousey exited WWE following her match against Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam the previous year. And now it appears Shayna Baszler claimed that she and Rousey were handcuffed when it came to the match.

Fans expressed dissatisfaction with the Rousey vs. Baszler match at SummerSlam 2023, with many highlighting that the bout could have benefited from clearer rules and a more engaging format.

In a recent interview with Fightful, Baszler revealed that both she and Rousey had better ideas for their match at SummerSlam 2023. However, they encountered limitations due to the venue’s constraints.

“I won’t lie, the idea we had, we were a little bit handcuffed just based on the venue. There was no tron, so we knew the people in-house were going to have trouble maybe understanding some of the stuff because you need a camera and a close up of that. We couldn’t get a cage or a fight pit in there because of the rigging in a dome situation is totally different. There was a lot. We tried to work out some other things, it just didn’t work out. We did the best we could with what we had. I’m proud of it.”

Ronda Rousey has also retired from professional wrestling for good, and also revealed her heel turn pitches were often rejected. Nevertheless, Baszler remains in WWE while Rousey will never return to WWE and perhaps that’s for the best.
