Ronda Rousey had departed WWE after her SummerSlam match against Shayna Baszler the previous year. She would then compete in other promotions before taking an indefinite break which turned out to be retirement. Rousey has now revealed why she had to retire from professional wrestling.

Rousey has ended her tenure in professional wrestling, leaving some fans disappointed by what seemed like a premature departure from the ring, as they clearly wanted Ronda Rousey to compete more.

During her interview on Never Before Told to promote her book “Our Fight,” she discussed her retirement from wrestling and competition altogether. Rousey revealed that her concussion history was the reason behind her retirement, a fact she had kept hidden. She explained that she had to conceal her concussion history to continue competing.

“Another would be my concussion history that I had to keep secret for years so I would be able to continue to compete and perform. That’s basically why I had to retire.”
