It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means! AEW Dynamite will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the March 20, 2024 episode.

AEW Dynamite Results (3/20/2024):

The show opens up with “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland and TNT Champion Christian Cage shown arriving in the arena as is “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada.

Mercedes Moné then makes her way down to the ring as commentary welcomes us to the show.

Moné receives the adulation of the crowd before she speaks with Tony Schiavone. Moné starts off by telling the crowd to say hello to their new CEO. Moné then says she is still on a high after her debut last week as she missed all of this. Moné then says she is excited to be here in AEW. Moné then says that her career almost got taken away from her as she suffered a severe injury in her match against Willow Nightingale. Moné then shows a video package to give fans an idea of who she is.

Moné then says she was rocking and rolling before it was taken away from her. Moné then says that she needed to be here as minor setbacks make for major comebacks and now she’s the CEO. Moné then makes it clear that she is not here to lead a women’s evolution as she has already done that. Moné then says she is here to lead a global revolution. Moné then says as for last week there is a price to pay when you mess with her. The lights then go out and when they come back on, Skye Blue goes to attack Moné. Moné then gains the upper hand as Julia Hart watches on. Moné then fights them off.

Blue and Hart then go under the ring and both women get a chair, but Willow Nightingale’s music hits and she and Kris Statlander make their way down to the ring to make the save. The lights go out and Blue and Hart are gone. Nightingale then teases hitting Moné with a steel chair from behind, but she doesn’t do it and Moné sees her considering it. Moné then calls Nightingale out for thinking about it and she then walks to the back.

We then head to the back, where Alex Marvez is trying to get a word with The Elite ( “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada and The Young Bucks). Matthew Jackson starts off by talking about how handsome Okada is and if anyone rises to the occasion, it’s Okada. Matthew Jackson also says under Continental Rules, they can’t be at ringside tonight, but they will be at the curtain giving him the best replays. Okada then speaks in Japanese before telling Eddie Kingston that he is coming for his title. Matthew Jackson then called Marvez a dumba** for not knowing what Okada said in Japanese and to study up so that doesn’t happen again next week.

We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is the AEW Continental Championship Match.

AEW Continental Championship Match: Eddie Kingston (c) vs. The Elite’s “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada

The match starts off with Okada and Kingston feeling each other out. Kingston then hits Okada with a series of strikes. Okada then gains the upper hand, but Kingston responds with a shoulder tackle. The match then heads to the outside and Okada hits Kingston with a DDT on the floor. The Young Bucks are then shown producing the show backstage, sitting next to Tony Khan. Okada then grounds Kingston. Okada then continues to control the action, but Kingston tries to come back with some chops.

Kingston then puts Okada in an abdominal stretch, but Okada escapes. Kingston then sends Okada to the mat and slams Okada with a heel trip. Kingston then nails Okada with an elbow smash and gets a two count. Okada then hits Kingston with a dropkick. Okada then hits Kingston with a neckbreaker over his knee and gets a two count. Kingston then dodges a dropkick from Okada and hits Okada with his signature back-fist for a two count. Both men then trade shots. Okada then goes for the Rainmaker, but Kingston gets his hands up. Kingston then knocks Okada down with a clothesline. Okada then grabs the referee and gouges Kingston’s eyes. Okada then ducks the backfist and slams Kingston down. Okada then hits his Rainmaker finisher on Kingston for the win.

After the match, Okada celebrates his win, but “The Bastard” PAC makes his way out and stares down the Rainmaker.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana. Strickland starts off by saying his intentions to attack AEW World Champion Samoa Joe last week were due to Joe trying to embarrass him the previous week. Strickland has a steel chain in hand and says he doesn’t have a problem choking anyone out. Strickland then says he felt inspired by Mike Tyson training for his next fight and wants a fight of his own, so he issues an Open Challenge.

Renee Paquette is then backstage with Kris Statlander, Stokely Hathaway and Willow Nightingale. Nightingale starts off by saying she is usually all smiles, but tonight, she will be in more Street Fights than any other woman in AEW. Nightingale then says add Statlander by her side and a weapon in hand, she will be a completely different Willow. Statlander then says tonight it will be the end of Julia Hart and Skye Blue. Mercedes Moné then walks in and Statlander thanks her for having Nightingale’s back last week. Moné then thanks Statlander for having hers tonight as well as both women shake hands and Statlander walks off. Nightingale then goes to talk, but Moné cuts her off and says she has done enough. Moné then walks off before Hathaway can shake her hand, but brings something up to Nightingale that she has already broken Moné’s ankle. Nightingale then leaves and Hathaway just shrugs at the camera.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: “Lionheart” Chris Jericho vs. FTW Champion HOOK

The match starts off with HOOK taking Jericho down with a high-angle suplex. Jericho is knocked out and the referee is checking on him. HOOK then takes the fight to Jericho and punches him in the corner. Jericho then responds with some strikes of his own. HOOK then suplexes Jericho three more times. Both men then trade shots and HOOK maintains the advantage. HOOK then suplexes Jericho once again.

Jericho then chops HOOK, but is on the receiving end of another German suplex. HOOK then hits Jericho with yet another German suplex. Jericho then tries to get back in the match, but HOOK suplexes him once again. Jericho keeps fighting and he hits a Lionsault on HOOK. Both men then battle on the top rope and HOOK goes for the Redrum, but Jericho fights his way out. Jericho then goes for the Walls of Jericho, but HOOK rolls him up for the win.

After the match, Chris Jericho offers a fist bump to HOOK and HOOK obliges.

Adam Cole is then shown discussing Wardlow’s loss to AEW World Champion Samoa Joe and says he hates being disappointed. Cole also says Wardlow had one job and he failed. Cole then tells Wardlow to make sure that the Undisputed Kingdom holds on to the gold that they have and then maybe they will forgive him. Cole also says he wants Wardlow to reach his potential and tells him to not screw it up.

We then see “Lionheart” Chris Jericho being asked by Renee Paquette about his loss to HOOK. Jericho says HOOK lived up to what he was hoping for. Jericho then calls HOOK a future world champion and that he is a bad man. Jericho then says that HOOK has gained his respect and he has a proposition for him.

“The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay then makes his way down to the ring to address the AEW fans.

Will Ospreay speaks with Tony Schiavone and starts off by saying that he has changed since the last time he was in Toronto. Ospreay then apologizes for his past actions towards Canada. Ospreay then says he is here for the betterment of AEW and makes a joke about maple syrup. Ospreay then brings up Bryan Danielson’s match with Katsuyori Shibata and praises it. Ospreay then recalls how Danielson said he could not walk in his shoes.

Ospreay then says maybe Danielson is right, but he takes a shot at Danielson wishing he could be a big star in Japan. Ospreay then says that he could not fit in Danielson’s shoes because his shoes were too small for him. Ospreay then highlights his success in Japan and says he will prove he can walk in Danielson’s shoes as he calls out Katsuyori Shibata. Ospreay then looks back on the last time they faced each other. Ospreay then says he has changed a lot since then and he challenges Shibata to face him next week. The match is then confirmed by commentary.

We then get a video package highlighting “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland’s feud with TNT Champion Christian Cage.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Tag Team Match.

Tag Team Match: AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mariah May vs. “The Virtuosa” Deonna Purrazzo and Thunder Rosa

The match starts off with Rosa and Purrazzo charging towards the ring and taking the fight to their opponents. May and Purrazzo are then left alone in the ring as Storm and Rosa brawl at ringside. May then nails Purrazzo with a dropkick and Storm and May go to double team Purrazzo, but she clotheslines both women. Rosa then tags in and takes control of the match. Luther then distracts Rosa and Storm knocks her off the apron with a hip attack.

May then hits Rosa with a sidewalk slam. Storm and May then continue to isolate Rosa from her corner. Purrazzo then tags in and clears house with a flurry of offense. Storm then slams Rosa after the match briefly breaks down in chaos. Storm then hits a hip attack, but Rosa rolls her up for the win.

After the match, Purrazzo looks frustrated as she and Rosa celebrate. Purrazzo then walks away and she and Rosa are clearly not on the same page.

Swerve Strickland then makes his way down to the ring with Prince Nana for his Open Challenge. The Butcher makes his way down to the ring next as he is the one who will answer Strickland’s Open Challenge.

Singles Match: Swerve Strickland vs. The Butcher

The match starts off with Swerve hitting a headbutt on Butcher and sending him into the corner with some strikes. Swerve then continues to control the action. Strickland then hits Butcher with a diving uppercut. Butcher then slams Swerve into the corner and targets his arm. Butcher then hits Swerve with a back breaker. Butcher then knocks Swerve down with a lariat. Swerve then hits Butcher with a kick and nails him with the House Call. Strickland then hits Butcher with his Swerve Stomp finisher. Swerve then puts Butcher in a submission and Butcher submits.

After the match, Strickland grabs the microphone as he is about to speak to AEW World Champion Samoa Joe. Strickland starts off by saying he had nothing but respect for Joe until they met, but then he felt a little indifferent, then he stopped liking Joe and now he is getting close to hating him. Strickland then says he thinks about wrapping his chain around Joe’s neck and wrapping it around the post and pulling until he has no life left, but with Joe’s big neck, he doesn’t have enough chains. 

Strickland then says he will take out the security Joe sends him every week until he gives him what he wants. The AEW World Champion then appears and says he should ignore Strickland because he beat him at AEW Revolution. Joe then says he thinks Strickland’s major problem is that he still believes in the impossible and that he can box with a God, but the problem is that becomes infectious and then people believe they can be great too and can be a champion. 

Joe then says it is sweet until someone like him turns up and smashes them in the face. Joe also says that is when he realized what to do with someone like Strickland, which is to give him what he wants. Joe then makes his way down to the ring, but Don Callis appears and says he guesses Strickland can just book himself into a title match. Callis then says it strikes him that Strickland and Konosuke Takeshita have the same number of wins, so maybe Takeshita needs to show Strickland what it’s like to lose to the family. Strickland then says if he had more time he would burn Callis’ family down. Strickland then says he will take on Takeshita and after that, he’s coming for Joe.

We then get the entrances of the main event, which is a TNT Championship I Quit Match.

TNT Championship I Quit Match: Christian Cage (c) vs. “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland

The match starts off with Cage hitting Copeland with some strikes and evading an early Spear attempt from the Rated R Superstar. Copeland then hits Cage with a baseball slide dropkick and the match heads to the outside. Copeland then follows Cage into the crowd. Both men then put on hockey jerseys and trade shots in a hockey fight. The fight then spills into the concourse are, and Copeland borrows a drink from a fan. Both men then briefly fight into the bathroom and Copeland brings Cage back into the arena.

Both men then continue to fight in the crowd, but Copeland gets Cage back to ringside. Copeland then brings out a ladder and he sets the ladder up in the timekeeper’s area. Copeland then clears the commentary desk and he slams Cage onto it. Copeland then sends Cage onto the bars of a ladder with a suplex.

Copeland then slams Cage into the ring post and gets a table. Cage then dodges a Spear and sends Copeland into the steel steps. Cage then hits a diving crossbody on Copeland through a table. Cage then sends Copeland into a ladder. Copeland then dodges a frog splash attempt from Cage and puts him in an STF. Both men are then down as they collide on a Spear attempt. Copeland and Cage then brawl and Copeland sends Cage flying off the stage. Copeland then brings out a hockey goal and slams Cage onto it. Copeland then sends Cage into the goal and Mother Wayne comes up behind Copeland and hits him below the belt with a hockey stick. Cage then hits Copeland with the hockey stick. Cage then hits Copeland with the hockey stick once again and chokes him with it. Cage then pulls a barbed-wire-wrapped chair out and goes for a Con-Chair-To, but Copeland evades it.

Cage then goes for the Killswitch onto the chair, but Copeland escapes. Copeland then hits Cage with a hockey stick. Copeland then uses his drawstring to choke Cage, but Nick Wayne and Killswitch attack Copeland. Mother Wayne then slaps Copeland and Daniel Garcia and “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard then make their way out. Copeland then dives onto Wayne and Killswitch at ringside. Copeland then handcuffs Wayne while Garcia and Menard handcuff Killswitch on the opposite side of the ring, so they’re both incapacitated.

Mother Wayne then leaves and Cage is left by himself. Garcia then hits Cage and Copeland hits Cage with a Spear. Copeland then cuffs Cage in the corner and Garcia and Menard then holds him while Copeland gets a spiked two-by-four. Copeland then kicks Cage below the belt repeatedly and gets “Spike” and he hits Cage below the belt. Copeland then hits Cage once again and Cage says he quits.

After the match, Copeland celebrates and Garcia hands Copeland the TNT Title. Confetti then scatters in the ring and Copeland flips Cage off one final time as the fans sing Copeland’s theme song and the show comes to a close.
