MJF defended his AEW World Title at Worlds End in a highly anticipated match with an unexpected outcome. Despite knowing that MJF’s contract was scheduled to expire after the event, there has been no confirmation about his future with the company. Tony Khan has consistently maintained silence regarding MJF’s status after the event and even recently, Khan simply gave no clear answer on MJF’s future in AEW.

In the main event of AEW Worlds End, MJF went head-to-head with Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship. Despite MJF’s determined efforts, including executing an F5 on Joe, he couldn’t withstand Joe’s relentless offense. Ultimately, Samoa Joe emerged victorious and secured the AEW World Championship.

Following the match, it was reported that MJF would be taking some time off to recover from his injuries. Intriguingly, MJF was also removed from the official AEW roster after the start of 2024.

While speaking to SportsGrid, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about MJF’s status and when he would return to AEW. Tony Khan stayed mum about MJF’s status in the company and simply stated that he would love to have MJF back.

”Well, it’s something to keep an eye on with MJF. He’s a great wrestler for AEW and he’s been a great World Champion and he was very injured and I would love to have MJF back, as soon as uh..any time, we’ll see what happens here.”

The Salt of The Earth is also contemplating shoulder surgery while he remains absent from AEW television. MJF also kept himself busy with new film protect during his hiatus. We will have to wait and see what will become of MJF in the end.
