The Young Bucks were absent from AEW television after Full Gear as it was evident they would be undergoing huge character shift. After over a month of absence, The Bucks came back during this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. However, it appears they actually returned to AEW earlier than they initially planned.

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite also revealed who Sting’s final opponents will be at AEW Revolution, as Sting and Darby Allin will be squaring off against The Young Bucks. This decision was met with a lot of mixed responses, but fans were surprised The Bucks came back so early.

According to Dave Meltzer on The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that The Young Bucks weren’t supposed to return to AEW television as early as they did. However, Sting requested them to come back and it was a request The Bucks simply couldn’t refuse.

The Young Bucks were originally going to take more time off before returning but Sting asked them and they weren’t about to turn that down.

Dave Meltzer also noted that when Sting was asked who he wanted to face, The Young Bucks were his choice as he loved doing the Forbidden Door 2022 match in Chicago, where Allin, Sting and Shingo Takagi squared off against The Young Bucks and El Phantasmo.

”When he was asked who he wanted to face, they were his choice, as he loved doing the Forbidden Door 2022 match in Chicago (Sting & Allin & Shingo Takagi vs. Bucks & El Phantasmo).”

It was previously reported that Sting had big say in who his final opponents would be for his retirement match at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view. We’ll have to wait and see how Sting’s final match will turn out, as AEW wants to ensure it will be a fitting end to The Icon.
