You never know what can happen in the pro wrestling ring, but the world outside the squared circle is so much more unpredictable. Now, we have a troubling story to report about one NWA star who is grappling with the aftermath of a terrible situation.

NWA star and cancer survivor Blk Jeez, who is also known as Darnell Kittrell, faced a terrible incident on Thursday, January 11th, around 7 p.m. in Philadelphia when he became the target of an attempted carjacking. According to a press release via WrestlingNewsCo, four masked men approached Kittrell, who was in his vehicle, and during the altercation, one of the assailants shot him in the hip, causing a non-life-threatening injury.

Kittrell, who is a legally registered firearm owner with a carry permit, used his gun to defend himself, prompting the attackers to run from the scene. Authorities are currently examining surveillance footage to gather leads. Following the incident, Kittrell was transported to a local hospital and is currently in the process of recovery.

NWA President William Patrick Corgan conveyed his well-wishes for Blk Jeez’s speedy recovery and expressed anticipation for his return to NWA shows.

“We stand by Blk Jeez during this challenging time and wish him a swift recovery. His strength and resilience have inspired us all, and we eagerly await his return to the NWA ring. Our thoughts are with him and his family.”

Having recently battled cancer, specifically multiple myeloma diagnosed in the spring of 2023, a type of blood cancer affecting plasma cells in the bone marrow, Kittrell’s journey has been a rough one. Despite his setback due to the unfortunate event, he was scheduled to return to action at NWA Paranoia on Saturday, January 13th, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

In response to the incident, Kittrell expressed his appreciation for the support received, acknowledging the challenges he faced. He released a public statement on the incident. Although he was looking forward to making his return to the ring, that can’t happen now. He is still excited about working the next show he can.

“I was looking forward to making my return this weekend. I would love to make the trip regardless of the soreness and pain that I’m in. However, my gut tells me to stay home with my family this weekend. I look forward to making my return at the next NWA event. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

We will keep our eye on this story, and so many more in the pro wrestling world. You never know what can happen next, but we will be here with all the headlines you need.
