Sheamus had a great career in WWE, winning multiple championships during his time in the company, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have regrets in his career. Sheamus has now revealed that he feels he should have been in the main event of WrestleMania 39.

Sheamus was unable to defeat Gunther at Clash At The Castle, where he challenged The Ring General for the Intercontinental Championship back in 2022. He still continued to feud with Gunther afterwards.

At WrestleMania 39, Sheamus competed in a triple threat match against Gunther and Drew McIntyre for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Despite his longstanding pursuit of the Intercontinental Title throughout his career, Sheamus was unable to secure the championship at the event.

While speaking on Virgin Media Sports Stories, Sheamus was asked about goals he still has in WWE. Sheamus made it clear he is still vying for the Intercontinental Championship. The Celtic Warrior started that he believes feels he should have been in the main event of WrestleMania 39 last year.

The IC Title. That’s it. I want to main event WrestleMania too. I want to main event WrestleMania, that’s another one. The IC Title and main event WrestleMania are the two things I want to do. I should have main evented WrestleMania (39). It should have gone on last. It stole the show at WrestleMania. Nothing came close, match-wise, the match me, Gunther, and Drew had. I knew that was always going to be the case. I was so close (to winning the IC Title) at Mania, and it just got taken away from me.”

It was previously reported that Sheamus is out of action with bad shoulder injury. However, Sheamus’ WWE return is still on the horizon even now. Only time will tell whether Sheamus will ever be able to win the Intercontinental Championship.
