The wrestling world has been buzzing with controversy ever since two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair made his debut in AEW. While he may be well-respected by many in the business, his presence in the company hasn’t been without its fair share of drama.

One particular incident that stirred the pot was Flair’s appearance on AEW Rampage last year, where he made some eyebrow-raising remarks. The Nature Boy, in his typical charismatic fashion, invited women in the audience aged 18 to 28 to meet him in his hotel room, with a strict “no boyfriends or husbands” rule. The comment set off firestorm on social media and led to Flair issuing an apology, even going so far as to express his willingness to walk away from AEW.

However, not everyone thinks Flair should have said sorry for his remarks. In a recent interview on FOX News, former WWE Superstar Tyrus had some strong words for The Nature Boy.

Tyrus reminded Flair of his legendary status in the world of wrestling, emphasizing that he’s forgotten more about the business than most of us will ever know. According to Tyrus, Flair is one of the last greats, and his presence alone can captivate generations of wrestling fans.

Tyrus made it clear that he believed Flair should never have apologized for his AEW debut, as the pop he received when he walked down that aisle was deafening. He wanted to ensure Flair understood that he is an enduring icon, just like diamonds and, well, Ric Flair himself.

‘I got a little bit of beef with you and I’m just gonna bring it up with you real quick. You put a post out where you had the temerity that maybe you shouldn’t have walked out there in AEW. Let me remind you of who you are. You have forgotten more wrestling than most of us will ever know. You are one of the last greats, when you come out and walk that isle, that a grandfather can look at his grandson, ‘I saw this guy wrestler and that is why you’re here.

So don’t you ever, I don’t comment on social media much, but I believe I did and I used the F word, don’t you apologize for Ric Flair coming out, because when you come out that pop is as loud as it has ever been. I have to remind you of something – diamonds are forever and so is Ric Flair and you need to remember that.”

As the wrestling world enters 2024, Flair’s future in AEW remains uncertain, but one thing is for sure: he’s not done making headlines and leaving his mark on the industry. The controversy surrounding him only adds to the intrigue of what’s to come in the world of professional wrestling.
