Shawn Spears was often seen by fans as a highly underrated WWE Superstar, with considerable talent that went underutilized. After his release, he joined AEW over three years ago. Recently, Spears has departed AEW, and it seems he had an intriguing role before his exit.

Shawn Spears was notably absent from AEW television since the October 13th, 2022 episode of Rampage, where he, along with FTR, defeated The Embassy. The reason for his absence was the welcoming of his first child with his wife, Cassie Lee.

Shawn Spears made a return to AEW television earlier this year, but despite his comeback, he didn’t have significant involvement in storylines. Subsequently, it was reported that Shawn Spears had departed from AEW.

According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that while Shawn Spears wasn’t used much on AEW television, he was one of the masked men working for The Devil in recent weeks.
