WWE saw the return of CM Punk at Survivor Series and the pro wrestling world was left in shock. The WWE Universe was very happy to see him return, although some backstage are waiting to see how everything pans out in time.

CM Punk marked his return to WWE Monday Night Raw recently, sparking numerous inquiries about his on-air address and backstage reception. This event marked his initial night back with the company following a surprise comeback at Survivor Series, which coincided with the day he reached an agreement to return to WWE.

PW Insider reported that CM Punk’s time was actually cut for his promo. The intention was to give him more time to speak to the WWE Universe during that promo, but Randy Orton and Dominik Mysterio’s match went a bit longer than expected.

As far as the promo, we are told that the initial plan was for a longer promo that would have given Punk more time, but timing issues led to the Randy Orton vs. Dominik Mysterio match to go longer than initially planned, so Punk’s time was cut.  This is something that regularly happens on live WWE TV.  So, it was a more abbreviated promo than initially planned.

It was also noted that CM Punk dragging Tony Khan or AEW on WWE television “was never going to happen.” That was not the story that they were telling in that promo.

The story is Punk’s return back to WWE after nearly a decade, not the last place he wrestled.  For those who asked if the line about Punk being here to make money, not friends was a shot at AEW, it certainly could have been, but no one we spoke to could say that for sure.

We will have to see what the future holds for CM Punk in WWE. This run could be a very special one. At this time, he is just getting warmed up to being back in the WWE Universe. Only time will tell how everyone feels about CM Punk in a year from now.

CM Punk made a very clear message when he said that he’s not there to make friends, he’s only there to make money. His WWE deal came together in a hurry, and now it appears that he is on the verge of telling some fascinating stories on WWE television.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
