WWE revealed a new five-year agreement with The CW, slated to commence in October 2024, to bring NXT to the network. Prior to that, the NWA, which is currently owned by Billy Corgan, reportedly secured two television deals with the same network. These deals encompass NWA Powerrr and an upcoming reality TV show.

That deal with the NWA’s television show now faces potential jeopardy due to contentious incident at NWA Samhein. During the event, a controversial spot involving Father James Mitchell and others engaging in illicit drug use raised concerns. This spot, championed by Corgan and advocated for its inclusion on the pay-per-view, left The CW executives displeased. Consequently, it appears that NWA’s content is likely to be relegated to The CW app rather than airing on the network’s television channel. In response to the NXT announcement, Billy Corgan distanced himself from those in his close circle and declined to address the situation.

When questioned about the matter during a recent interview on 102.5 The Bone’s Drew Garabo Live, Billy Corgan remained steadfast in his assertion that the promotion has secured two deals with an as-yet-unnamed top 20 television network. He also criticized the speculation suggesting otherwise.

“Yeah, I like to say, first and foremost, we are a television content producer,” Corgan began. That’s really wrestling in the 21st century, television first and everything else second. That’s not to say the second is not important, but if you can’t drive from television down, you’re gonna have a hard time building an audience. Certainly being on national television in any capacity, digital or otherwise, broadcast network, that’s how you reach the most people.”

“Going into a market like Sarasota as we’ll be on next Saturday after next, having people have a routine way to reach your television product is part of what makes people want to come see the matches. We are free on YouTube, but the way YouTube works and the way people’s schedules are, unless they go looking for stuff, they may not even know you’re there.”

“So yeah, TV deals are at the core of it and there’s been a ton of speculation lately. I stand by what I said: We have two TV deals with a top 20 network, that’s all I can say for now. There’s lots of speculation that that’s not true but I can stand here and say, hand on heart, that is absolutely true.”

It has since been reported that there is growing frustration within the NWA about Billy Corgan’s leadership. EC3 has since jumped to Corgan’s defense.

We will have to see where the NWA lands next. Billy Corgan reportedly went into seclusion after the CW’s deal with SmackDown was announced. He has since resurfaced, and it appears that the NWA’s upcoming television deal is still going.

What’s your take on the NWA getting a new television deal? Would it change anything for the company? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
