WWE saw Nick Aldis take over a big role on SmackDown last week, as he became the brand’s new General Manager. His wife, Mickie James, seems over the moon about her husband making his big WWE debut.

Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE did not hire Nick Aldis on with the intention of him being an on-screen Authority Figure. They brought him into the company as a producer, and he is seemingly doing both roles now.

Triple H introduced Aldis as the new General Manager of SmackDown, with Adam Pearce now solely handling the role of General Manager for Raw. Mickie James was watching from home, and she is very excited about what is to come.

Mickie James, Aldis’ wife and a former WWE star, discussed his new role within the company and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity during an episode of the Under the Ring podcast.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am for Nick. He’s worked a really long time and there’s been opportunities that perhaps he thought it may never happen, or we thought it would never happen, just different things along the way and I feel like it’s his time now. I’m so grateful that he’s finally gotten an opportunity, I know he’s going to kill it.

“He’s so great on the microphone as it is, but I think this GM role is perfect because he can be cocky and people can love him, or they can hate him. I’m so excited for him and he deserves it more than the world. I was crying when I got the news and I had been waiting for the news to come out, and I was trying to keep it as secret as possible so it was a big surprise.

“It’s amazing to see him living the dream, and living his dream because we’re obviously a couple and a team, but I’ve had so many amazing opportunities in my career and I feel like a lot of people don’t know how good he is, and now they’re going to see.”

Before stepping into his role as SmackDown General Manager, Nick Aldis had been working as a producer in the preceding weeks, and it appears he continues with this responsibility alongside his new authority position.

Nick Aldis’ first order of business was introducing Kevin Owens as the new SmackDown Superstar, who was traded to the brand for Jey Uso. Then he booked Charlotte Flair in a Women’s Title match for the next week.

Nick Aldis has a lot to offer WWE, but are you bummed that he won’t be wrestling? Let us know what you think about things in the comments section!
