WWE has a lot of Superstars in NXT who are primed and ready to make a big statement on the main roster. Sometimes a bit more time in NXT can do a Superstar a lot of good.

Ilja Dragunov won the NXT Title at No Mercy from Carmelo Hayes in a very hard-hitting contest. That was a huge moment for Dragunov, but it may not have happened if WWE followed through with original plans they had for him.

BWE noted behind their private X account that there were plans for Ilja Dragunov on the main roster earlier in 2023. That changed around, and now he is very busy in NXT.

“Ilja Dragunov was slated for a callup earlier in the year. A lot changed. Doubt we see it anytime soon.”
