AEW WrestleDream was a big event, and fans at home saw a lot of action. That being said, there was also one notable injury scare along the way, as Fenix was unable to finish the match he was booked to compete in.

During the #1 contender match for the AEW Tag Team Titles, Fenix was taken to the back, and Penta had to go it alone after that. Now, we have an update on him after so many were worried that he was injured.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Rey Fenix’s situation. Apparently, they planned to take Fenix out of the match halfway through.

“Rey Fenix, that was just a plan to get him out of the match early because he was hurting.”

It seems that AEW had a plan to remove their International Champion from that four-way tag team match due to his preexisting issues. He may be banged up, but it wasn’t noted that his International Title match against Nick Jackson on AEW Dynamite this week is cancelled.
