Matt Riddle was released from WWE, and a lot of comments have come out since then. His ex-girlfriend famously started an online war with his finance over her comments. Now, Booker T is getting in on the commentary, which is a place he is very comfortable being.
The King of Bros was involved in a few controversies outside that JFK Airport experience. You also can’t forget the controversy surrounding his leaked sex tape. That went down after he got out of rehab, a stint that cost him the latter portion of 2022 from the ring.
During his Hall of Fame radio show, Booker T discussed Matt Riddle’s AEW firing. He stated that the Original Bro became a “liability” for the company. After a while, they couldn’t keep him around.
“There is only so much that is going to be tolerated. It catches up to you, you become a liability.”
Booker T was also not too taken back by this release as he continued to say, “I’m was not shocker or surprised this happened. You put yourself in a position for something to happen. Nine times out of ten it will happen.”
The two-time WWE Hall of Famer has seen a lot in his career. He also commented to say, “a lot of guys would have been released for a lot of the same reasons.” When it comes to what Tony Khan is looking for, Booker T also had to question, “Is that what AEW wants? To deal with that kind of baggage?”
Matt Riddle could have other options in the pro wrestling world. We will have to see where he lands. At this point, AEW might be an option, but they would also be taking a risk in doing so the way Booker T sees it.
