WWE SmackDown is going back to USA Network, and that is a landmark five-year deal. That will also mean that RAW and NXT will have to change at this point.

WWE’s current programming rights deals for Raw, NXT, and SmackDown are approaching their expiration date in the Fall of 2024. WWE Raw and NXT are under contract with the USA Network right now, while SmackDown airs on FOX.

WWE recently made a significant decision, announcing their departure from FOX. Instead, they’ve entered into a new five-year agreement that will see SmackDown return to the USA Network. This arrangement is set to kick off in October 2024 and extend until 2029, effectively keeping the blue brand on the network for an extended period.

As part of this deal, WWE has also committed to producing four primetime specials per year to be broadcast on NBC. This move marks a strategic shift in WWE’s television partnerships, expanding their presence in primetime slots while consolidating their broadcast network. However, with this transition, it also signifies the end of Raw and NXT’s tenure on the USA Network.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that negotiations for the rights to Raw’s programming are currently in a highly active state. A variety of parties, including traditional linear networks, streaming services, and some unexpected players, have expressed their interest in acquiring the rights to Raw. This dynamic suggests a potentially transformative period for WWE’s television landscape, as they explore new avenues and partnerships for their flagship program.

We will have to see what happens with RAW and NXT in the next year. At this point, the pro wrestling world is used to changes, and they will see a lot more in 2024.
