Pro Wrestling is full of stories, and The Rock is known for catching headlines. His possible match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania is not out of the picture. That being said, the People’s Champions’ reason for not making the showcase of the immortals this year is now being called into question.

On the recent episode of My World With Jeff Jarrett, Double J discussed plans for The Rock at WrestleMania 40. This conversation followed The Rock’s confirmation that there were discussions about him facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. The Rock said they couldn’t figure out a spectacular enough story, so they “put their pencils down.”

During his appearance on the Pat McAfee show this week, The Rock mentioned that they were exploring unique ideas but couldn’t settle on one. As a result, they temporarily halted the talks, with the possibility of resuming discussions for WrestleMania 40 next year. Jeff Jarrett really doesn’t buy that story.

“So, I’m not sure I’m buying that Rock was uninspired going into SoFi this year. We all know what happened the day after [Endeavor buying WWE}. Well, I just think there was a lot going on behind the scenes. Vince coming back, the sale, the merger, you know, the executive situation. WWE over the last 12 months, when you really think about it, if you want to pull in 18 months? Think about that Conrad. Yeah, lots of changes. So I can kind of see in my man Dwayne, second and third generation going, ‘You know, there’s a lot more upside to having a little patience. I’m going to set this one out,’ for whatever reason. And that — so okay, now Endeavor and UFC, and maybe the writers strike, maybe not, I doubt it. But maybe there’s something there that excites him.”

Ringside News exclusively reported that The Rock was virtual lock for WrestleMania 39. He pulled out of the event, and gave his own reasoning for that happening, as he confirmed that a match against Roman Reigns was going to happen. That being said, he is open to holding the match at WrestleMania 40.

We will have to see what is in The Rock’s future. WWE fans certainly want to see him again, and that is no secret. The big question is whether they will be able to work anything out.
