Melina was one of the mainstays of the WWE women’s division during the early to late 2000s and fans fondly remember her for all of her accomplishments. She was part of the Women’s Royal Rumble match last year and it appears Melina admitted she botched a major spot during the match.

During the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, Mercedes Mone came out as the #1 entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match while Melina came out as the #2.

The two had a back-and-forth and a battle of showing off their moves. In the end, Mercedes Mone eliminated Melina in a very short time, which really irritated many fans in a big way.

While speaking with Ring The Belle, Melina addressed speculation that she slipped during the match and got eliminated early. Melina made it clear she did not slip, but she did botch a major spot nonetheless.

“Okay, I don’t wanna knock how people perceive wrestling but at the same time I’m like, I question you’re a worker and you thought I slipped, I really need you to reevaluate how you see things. Because okay. So, I was protecting my knee always. I always do that. But when she threw me out I wanted to hit the apron first and then kinda fall out and go face first.

But when I hit the mat, I was like, ‘ugh’ and I then I thought I made it look fake, like I threw myself out. And I was like, ‘oh, man!’ And I probably actually did but I didn’t slip. So, having it look like I slipped actually good because it looks real in a sense. Because I thought I looked like I threw myself out. But that was what was supposed to happen. She was supposed to dump me out and that’s it. So, I stayed in the ring longer than what they wanted me to.”

Melina also made it clear she couldn’t care less if she never returned to WWE. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the former WWE Superstar, as a return to Vince McMahon’s company seems unlikely now.
