The ROH Hall of Famer was tragically involved in a fatal car accident on January 17th, 2023. The Delaware State Police confirmed that another driver crossed the center line and collided with his vehicle head-on.

While speaking on this past week’s episode of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Mark Briscoe talked about his brother Jey Briscoe’s tragic passing and the aftermath following his death. Mark Briscoe revealed that he considered retiring after his brother’s passing, but decided to continue wrestling.

You know, when it first happened, I was almost like, “Well, I don’t know if I ever want to wrestle again.” And then as the hours go, it’s almost like, “Shit, Jamin will be pissed if I…” You know what I mean? If I hung up the boots now, he’d be mad as hell.

AEW also had a tribute show for Jay Briscoe on January 25th, which turned out to be one of the most emotional episodes of the show since Brodie Lee’s back in December 2020. No matter what, Jay Briscoe will be fondly remembered by fans, family and peers alike and that’s all that matters.
