Austin Theory has been on a roll as the United States Champion, especially after his heel turn several months ago. Theory is well aware of how Rey Mysterio got injured on Smackdown this week and it appears Theory stated that Santos Escobar is a bad guy.

WWE SmackDown featured the finals of the United States Title tournament this week, which saw Rey Mysterio squaring off against fellow LWO member Santos Escobar in a singles match.

Unfortunately, Rey Mysterio suffered legitimate injury during the match after Escobar hit a dive on him. This led to referee Jessika Carr making the call that he was unable to compete anymore and award Escbar with the fan.

While speaking on SmackDown Lowdown, Austin Theory talked about Rey Mysterio’s injury and it made clear that he was shocked to see Escobar injure his mentor, calling him a bad guy.

“I’m shook. You know, I thought I had this figured out. I went out there, I enjoyed my popcorn, but I didn’t get to finish it. I thought, LWO, not just friends, family. Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar, they are family. But they didn’t take it easy on each other. That’s what I thought, but what happened? Santos Escobar just knocked out Rey Mysterio, my childhood hero. Do you know what that means? Santos Escobar, he’s a bad guy. And I’ll take care of that.”

WWE also had other plans for Rey Mysterio vs Santos Escobar. We will have to wait and see how long the Master of the 619 will remain absent from in-ring competition, as fans hope he returns sooner rather than later.
