Following Santos Escobar’s impactful dive that left Rey Mysterio down, ringside medical staff attended to him. Referee Jessika Carr made the official call that Mysterio was unable to continue, resulting in the victory being awarded to Escobar.

According to PW Insider, the initial intention for the match was for Escobar to secure the win through pinfall. So, in any case, WWE had planned for Escobar to emerge victorious.

Santos Escobar’s next match is set as he gears up to challenge Austin Theory for the US Championship on the August 11th edition of SmackDown. That match will go down in two weeks, and it should be quite an opportunity for Escobar.

We will keep our eyes open for more updates on Rey Mysterio. Hopefully, this week’s issue will pass very quickly, because the LWO certainly doesn’t need him to take a hiatus right now.
