Rey Mysterio’s Injury Status After Concerning Angle On WWE SmackDown

You never know when an injury will strike, and Rey Mysterio saw quite a match this week on SmackDown. Sadly, he could not finish it but that’s not to say things are incredibly serious.

We previously reported that Santos Escobar won the United States Title tournament when Rey Mysterio couldn’t finish the match. Some fans were concerned about Mr. 6-1-9’s status, but it seems that this was all part of the show.

WRKD Wrestling tweeted out to update fans during SmackDown to say that Rey Mysterio is not really injured. This was a planned spot in the match.

For those concerned, Rey Mysterio’s injury on #SmackDown is a storyline.

It made sense for them to end Rey Mysterio vs Santos Escobar in this way. After all, nobody lost any heat, but it would also open the door for them to really finish things at a later date. The LWO is going strong, and they also don’t need an fighting within the faction.

We will have to see how WWE plays off this situation with Rey Mysterio. He is fine, but that’s not the say they won’t play it up with another angle.
