Carlito returned to WWE for one night a Backlash, and that was quite a treat for fans in Puerto Rico. Now, it appears that WWE has some plans for his return.

PW Insider has released a new report shedding light on Carlito’s current status with WWE. Initially expected to make a comeback last week, the wrestler was notably absent backstage during SmackDown. However, sources reveal that Carlito had traveled to the same region as WWE over the weekend and was sighted in Pittsburgh on Sunday, where the WWE medical team is primarily located.

The decision to exclude Carlito’s return on the same SmackDown episode was reportedly influenced by The Bloodline’s prominent storyline, which would have overshadowed his comeback. In an effort to maintain a focused episode, introducing Carlito alongside LWO events would have diluted the impact of both storylines.

While he was not backstage at Madison Square Garden for Smackdown, company sources confirmed that he traveled to the Northeast for the company that weekend.

A longtime PWInsider Elite subscriber relayed today that they saw Carlito waiting for a flght from Pittsburgh on Sunday.  WWE’s medical program is headquartered in the Steel City.

One WWE source noted that Carlito’s return on last week’s Smackdown “would have been lost in the wake of the Bloodline” so it was for the best he didn’t return that evening.  The LWO was used only for cameo appearances on the episode.

We will have to see what happens at this point, but it seems that he LWO has some big plans for a new member very soon. Hopefully, Carlito’s fan base will be very happy about how everything goes down.

Carlito’s WWE return could bring a lot of eyes back to the product, but do you think he will really move the needle? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you’re thinking!
