Margot Robbie Asked John Cena To Join The Barbie Movie

John Cena is set to be a part of the new Barbie Movie, and that role was unexpected for some fans. It turns out that Margot Robbie didn’t know what he would take the part in the first place.

The ‘Barbie’ film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is set to release on July 21st. There was big red carpet event held on July 9th. Among the attendees were WWE’s Liv Morgan and Scarlett Bordeaux, adding a touch of wrestling flair to the occasion. Of course, the movie also included some WWE flair with John Cena.

Interestingly, the movie features a surprise cameo by John Cena, a 16-time WWE World Champion, portraying a Merman. That will see Cena in a much different role.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling were asked about Cena’s unexpected appearance in the film.

Margot Robbie revealed that she had a hand in making it happen. While filming in London, she went out to enjoy a meal, but when it came time to pay the bill, she was pleasantly surprised to learn that Cena had already taken care of it.

I did (have something to do with John Cena being in Barbie). It was actually a fortuitous… It happened while we were shooting in London. I ran into him at a restaurant and we’d worked together before and I was like — actually I ran into him because I went to pay the bill and they were like, ‘John Cena already took care of it’ and I was like, ‘What!? Where is he?’ I mean he’s a big guy.”

“Yeah, because I couldn’t see him (she laughed) but I was like, he’s hard to hide. Anyways, I found him and I was like, ‘What are you doing here?’ He was shooting at (Warner Bros Studios) Leavesden where we shot the film as well and I was like, ‘That’s where we’re shooting Barbie’ and I was like, ‘Do you wanna come be a Merman in Barbie?’ He was like, ‘Uh, yeah’ and I was like, surely he’s not gonna agree to it just like that and he did. He’s so awesome like that.

Coincidentally, John Cena had been shooting at the same studio where ‘Barbie’ was being filmed. In a spur-of-the-moment decision, Margot approached Cena and jokingly asked if he would be interested in playing the role of a Merman. Margot Robbie had no idea that Cena would take the part, but it happened.

We will have to see if John Cena steals the show in the Barbie Movie. Only time will tell if they set him up as a regular in any sequels.
