Malakai Black joined WWE in June 2016 and didn’t waste any time establishing himself there. He soon became one of the hottest acts in WWE NXT and became the NXT Champion. WWE released Black in June 2020 as part of the budget cuts stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Now it appears Black recalled Randy Orton’s amusing reaction to his finisher.

Malakai Black saw success in NXT as he won the NXT Championship in April 2017 at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. That said, his main roster run from 2019 to 2021 wasn’t all that memorable.

The former Aleister Black squared off against numerous opponents during his time in WWE and that includes Randy Orton, especially during the WWE Live house show circuit in 2019.

While speaking on the Undisputed podcast with Bobby Fish, Malakai Black talked about his time working with Randy Orton and disclosed Randy Orton’s amusing reaction to his finisher.

”Me and obviously Randy get into it and obviously, Randy being the most, the greatest… I cannot express how it is to be in there with Randy Orton who is just — he is a step above being a ring general.

He just knows everything and the slightest body movement and every body — it’s insane how crazy good Randy is.

So it’s time to come for the heel kick and you know, I hit him with it and as I hit him with it, he goes, ‘Oh brother, that’s amazing’ and he falls down. It’s one of my favorite stories.”

Randy Orton has already recovered from his back surgery. Orton is also in high spirits while he remains absent from WWE television. Ringside News exclusively reported that Randy Orton’s return to the squared circle is planned, but it might take a while. We’ll have to see when The Apex Predator will finally make his triumphant return to the squared circle.
