Colt Cabana is currently part of the ROH roster and remains one of the most beloved stars backstage in AEW ad ROH. Before joining Tony Khan’s company, Cabana was a big name in the indies. That said, it appears that Cabana made ten times the money in the indies than he did during his time in WWE.

Colt Cabana signed with WWE back in 2007, where he was relatively unknown around that time. He made his debut on the August 15th, 2008 episode of SmackDown, where Cabana was known as Scotty Goldman and was largely used as enhancement talent and nothing more.

Colt Cabana was eventually released by WWE in February 2009 after failing to connect with fans. Afterwards, Cabana built his own brand through promotions such as ROH, PWG, NWA and later NJPW.

While speaking on a recent episode of Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw, Cabana revealed he made way less money during his time in WWE. Cabana added that he earned ten times the money in the independent circuit than what he made in WWE.

“I knew it was an investment in my future. That’s the only place you can make millions of dollars, so I went to OVW for a year [and] I got over … I wasn’t set up to have the best situation [when I got called up to the main roster,] so I had six matches of losing very quickly. [But] it led to the most success I’ve ever had in my career, which was my post-WWE career [where], I made ten times what I made in WWE.”

There is also a chance that CM Punk and Colt Cabana will share the same locker room, assuming Punk returns in time for AEW Collision. Regardless, Cabana is glad he bet on himself after WWE released him and that’s all that matters.
