Cody Rhodes is undoubtedly one of the most over babyfaces in the company right now and continues to make his mark in the company. He is currently engaged in a feud with Brock Lesnar, which will likely culminate at WWE Backlash. Now it appears Rhodes competed in a match after Smackdown went off the air this week.

This week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown took place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico ahead of the WWE Backlash Premium Live Event. It was truly a night of memorable moments and solid matches.

Cody Rhodes made an apperance on this week’s show, where he cut a promo ahead of his major match against Brock Lesnar at WWE Backlash. It set the stage for their upcoming matchup and built up a lot of hype. Of course, that wasn’t the last fans saw of Cody Rhodes.

After this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown went off the air, fans got to see a couple of dark matches. This included Cody Rhodes squaring off against Finn Balor in singles competition.

Dominik was ringside during the match and also interfered in many instances. He also got a ton of heat from fans and loved it. In fact, Mysterio also signaled the fans to shut up and gave them the iconic DX chop.

In the end, The American Nightmare defeated Balor and sent the crowd home happy. Of course, this simply set up a future feud between the two WWE Superstars.

We will have to wait and see whether The American Nightmare will be able to defeat Brock Lesnar at WWE Backlash, as it is certainly be Rhodes’ most challenging match in his career so far.
