CM Punk always manages to make headlines no matter what he does and fans are more than used to that fact. Punk also paid a visit to WWE before RAW this past week and set the pro wrestling world on fire. Now it appears Jim Cornette believes Punk was trying to get fired from AEW with his WWE visit.

As we previously reported, CM Punk was asked to leave WWE RAW this week. That said, he stayed long enough to have interactions with some WWE Superstars and have a proper talk with Triple H.

CM Punk and The Miz also buried the hatchet during the shocking visit and many fans were actually praising Punk for being mature in this instance. Even now, CM Punk’s topic is a major topic of discussion.

While speaking on his Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornette talked about CM Punk’s unannounced visit before RAW this week. Cornette stated that he believes Punk was trying to get fired from AEW with his WWE visit.

“Here’s the thing, it only happens with Tony [Khan]’s guys ’cause they know nothing’s going to happen bad or—if they’re wanting to get fired they do other things to try and get fired, he won’t fire them. Or they just don’t give a s***, or they do it on purpose to say ‘hey remember me? I’m over here, you’re not paying attention to me when I’m around but when I’m here at the other place maybe this will get your attention’. It’s all of those things.”

Many in WWE also believe Punk wanted ‘back in’ the company. As Ringside News exclusively reported, CM Punk didn’t make huge impression with his visit. It remains to be seen how Punk will fare after he returns during AEW Collision’s debut in June.

What’s your take on what Jim Cornette said? Do you think CM Punk wanted to get fired by Tony Khan? Let us know in the comments!
