WWE is the dream destination for a lot of pro wrestlers out there, but it just doesn’t work out for some people. While a few are selected to carry the heavy ball that the company hands them, others don’t even make it out of the tryout process.

It seems Dalton Castle doesn’t have the best memory from his WWE tryout experience. The former ROH Champion showed up to a tryout, but he wasn’t thinking about how his attire might hamper his chance.

Although Dalton Castle is a veteran performer, and he has charisma for days, that didn’t seem to help him in his WWE tryout. Castle gave his all during his tryouts, but he should have picked different footwear.

While speaking to the WrestleJoy podcast, Dalton Castle remembered his WWE tryout. After cutting a promo, seven coaches had nothing good to say about what he said, but they did rag on his flip-flops.

They just dressed me down the second I stopped talking. They didn’t say one positive thing about the way I talked. They just sh*t on me for wearing flip-flops. Seven men that I looked up to, that I grew up watching and respecting, they were just running me down. I think the only person who didn’t say something mean and was just kind of nice was Dusty Rhodes. That was something, that’s kind of nice.

Dalton Castle is now a part of Tony Khan’s ROH, and appearing on AEW Dynamite as well. It might be interesting to see Dalton Castle mix it up on the WWE main roster, but it seems that the ship has sailed on that possibility.

What’s your take on Dalton Castle? Should WWE have given him a shot? Sound off in the comments!
