Former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa has been sidelined due to a back injury, and it looks like she will not be returning to the ring anytime soon. In a recent interview on the Busted Open WrestleMania Party, the Mexican star provided an update on her condition and potential return to the squared circle.

Thunder Rosa last wrestled for AEW on the August 15, 2022, episode of Dark: Elevation when she teamed up with Hikaru Shida and Toni Storm to defeat Emi Sakura, Marina Shafir, and Nyla Rose. She was written out of action after suffering back injury, and her last televised match was on the Battle of the Belts event, where she defended the Women’s Title against Jamie Hayter.

The injury led to Thunder Rosa having to vacate the belt and the scheduled match with Toni Storm at All Out 2022 being changed. In the interview, Thunder Rosa revealed that she needs another MRI and that she hasn’t been cleared to return to the ring anytime soon.

“That’s the question everyone asks me during the signings. Unfortunately, I wasn’t cleared and I don’t think I’m going to be cleared anytime soon. I need another MRI.”
