One of the best aspects of AEW for most fans is certainly the prospect of dream matches taking place, especially when it comes to inter-promotional matches. Now it seems AEW has just announced a huge dream match for next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW President Tony Khan has made an exciting announcement that has sent shockwaves through the wrestling community. In a tweet on Friday, March 17, Khan revealed that he would be announcing a “dream match” for the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite, which is set to air on March 22.
After much anticipation and speculation, Tony Khan finally confirmed the details of the “dream match” that he had teased earlier. The match will see a highly anticipated debut, as El Hijo Del Vikingo is set to make his first appearance in AEW and go head-to-head against none other than former AEW World Champion, Kenny Omega.

El Hijo Del Vikingo has been making waves in the wrestling world in recent months. Ranked #8 in the 2022 PWI 500 list last September, he has been gaining attention on the US independent scene with appearances for promotions like GCW and Warrior Wrestling.
Vikingo’s current status as AAA Mega Champion is a testament to his skills in the ring. He won the title in a five-way match at Triplemanía Regia II in December 2021, after it was vacated by none other than his upcoming opponent, Kenny Omega. Omega had stepped away from wrestling in November to undergo multiple surgeries, relinquishing the AAA Mega Championship in the process.
Although the upcoming bout between Vikingo and Omega is not being marketed as a title match, it’s possible that the outcome of the match could set up a future championship showdown.
