Dominik Mysterio Did Not Portray His WWE Character As NWO Wolfpac Konnan Intentionally

Dominik Mysterio is emerging to become man of his own identity and not a mere offspring of his father, Rey Mysterio’s storied legacy. The thug cred member of the Judgment Day faction has become a ruthless person, unlike the good guy character he portrayed during his alliance with Rey Mysterio. Recently, he addressed the talk of being compared to WCW veteran Konnan during his nWo Wolfpac days.

Konnan was credited for his work in Ted Turner’s WCW promotion back in the 1990s. During his tenure, he aligned himself with Kevin Nash’s nWo Wolfpac in 1997, against Hulk Hogan’s nWo Hollywood when the stable was divided.

Dominik Mysterio has shown a new edge to his character lately, and some of it looks to be the shades of his real-life godfather, Konnan. He addressed the comparisons to him and whether it was intentional or not while speaking with the Wrestling Inc. Senior Editor Nick Hausman before the Royal Rumble.

“I had a flannel, and we made it work. And after that, I saw on the internet that I was just getting tagged in all the — like you said — NWO Konnan stuff and Wolfpac and Filthy Animals Konnan. And he reached out to me. He’s like, ‘Did you do that on purpose?’ I was like, ‘No, but now I will.'”

Dominik Mysterio’s new character generates somewhat of an urban gangster vibe, that made his godfather Konnan popular. The WCW star sagged his pants, and long-sleeve flannel shirts, and used hip-hop culture references in his promos.

The son of Rey Mysterio betrayed his own father at WWE Clash at the Castle pay-per-view right after he and Edge defeated The Judgment Day back in September 2022. The following night saw Dominik Mysterio pledge his allegiance to the terrorizing faction.

Dominik Mysterio has been a completely changed man now, under the tutelage of his ‘Mami’ Rhea Ripley, and closely aligned with other members of Judgment Day, Finn Balor, and Damien Priest. We can definitely say that Ripley’s Dom Dom surely has a bright future ahead and would realize his full potential as a member of the stable.
