The Money In The Bank briefcase catapulted several WWE Superstars into the main event spotlight. Edge, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and Seth Rollins all used the contract to cash in on their chance at a title shot and win their first world championships. Aron Stevens, formerly known as Damien Sandow, was a wrestler who did not have the same level of success.

Damien Sandow discussed his fateful cash-in attempt during an appearance on Ten Count. He revealed that there were speculations of his walking away with championship gold around his waist. “It was said to me, but there are no promises. There are no guarantees,” he said.

Sandow would use his Money In The Bank contract against an injured John Cena on an episode of Raw in October 2013. Cena was injured the night before in a Hell In A Cell bout against Alberto Del Rio. Sandow attacked him when the champ cut a promo and the briefcase was handed to him.

Damien Sandow, on the other hand, would fall short of losing the subsequent match against Cena and becoming just the second Money In The Bank holder to fail to cash in the contract; ironically, the first was Cena himself. Sandow went on to explain how he felt knowing how close he was to be a WWE champion only to change his plans later. He went on to say that, despite the setback, he kept on, doing his best with what was expected of him.

How would you want me to feel? It’s one of those things where it is what it is. And you know what? You can dwell on the past, which, you know, that got to me a little bit. Or you can go forward.

Behind the scenes? Yeah, it can get to me. But as a performer, I go out there; I don’t care what I did. I may not like the script I’m handed, but I can weave that straw into gold.

Damien Sandow also recently discussed why his popular collaboration with The Miz fell apart. The Miz was in the prime of his career in 2014 and had Damien as his sidekick. The duo later became fan favorites and were dubbed MizDow. During the WrestleMania 31 Kickoff Show, The Miz, Damien Sandow, and the Big Show were the last three competitors in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Sandow eventually betrayed The Miz by throwing him over the top rope. In a Battle Royal, however, he was no match for the Big Show, and Damien was eliminated minutes later. Keep an eye on Ringside News for the latest updates.
