Cody Rhodes took the entire wrestling world by storm by returning to the WWE landscape last year. Although the American Nightmare missed a majority of the calendar year of 2022 due to injury, he is now ready to return to the square circle, looking better than ever. Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes recently spoke about his upcoming return and recovery status.
After his run in WWE ended in 2016, Cody Rhodes went on career resurgence and molded himself into one of the biggest stars in the wrestling world. He went on to wrestle for various promotions and joined AEW in 2019 helping with the inception of the company.
Cody Rhodes emerged as a top attraction for Tony Khan’s company, both as an in-ring competitor and Executive Vice President. However, due to failed negotiations, Rhodes and his wife Brandi left the company in 2022.
The American Nightmare made his shocking return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, as the surprise opponent for the Drip God Seth Rollins. The duo had an intense rivalry for months until Cody Rhodes went out with a shoulder injury right after WWE Hell in a Cell 2022.
Cody Rhodes was recently announced to make his in-ring return at the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble 2023. Brandi Rhodes recently spoke about her husband’s comeback during an interview with Steve Fall’s Ten Count. She said that he is all ready to go.
“As far as wrestling is concerned, for me the most intriguing story is Cody trying to capture his dream. It’s been so fantastic except for the injury portion, but It’s just been really great to see him reconnect with this audience, kind of be completely welcomed back home coming back to WWE, and for them to have his back in this journey. It’s really, really fun to see and I’m excited for him to get back.”
Brandi also elaborated on Cody Rhodes’ recovery status from his injury. It was a lot of work, but the American Nightmare is ready to show the world his progress.
“All of the work that he’s been doing to get back has been really good. I went with him to his physical therapist yesterday to finally see, because he’s been ragging on me the entire time, ‘you haven’t come, you haven’t come.’ So, l’m like ‘Okay, I’m coming to see’, and I was really impressed with how he looks now. He doesn’t look like anything happened, which is crazy because he had major surgery so he looks like the same Cody to me. The muscle mass is all there. He looks ready to me.”
Cody Rhodes has been the heavy favorite to win the 2023 Royal Rumble match for a long time. With the former WWE Intercontinental champion set to come back, it seems that the time has arrived for Cody Rhodes to ascend to the top mountain.
