AEW has been working with numerous promotions since its inception back in 2019. That being said, AEW’s relationship with AAA is not going strong as of late. In fact, AAA is done putting titles on AEW talent in general.

Tay Melo was booked for a World Mixed Tag Title match at the AAA Noche de Campeones event in Acapulco, Mexico. However, she was also booked for tag team match on AEW Dynamite this week.

Melo ended up pulling out of the title defense and competed on Dynamite instead. Due to this, AAA became very upset with AEW and they stripped Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara of their titles.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AAA is simply done putting titles on AEW talent due to their conflicts with dates. It was added that the only exception would be Kenny Omega, for a good reason.

“Right now the plan is that unless it’s Kenny Omega, who they still want as their Mega champion because of his work and name value, if they can get dates on him, they don’t want titles on AEW wrestlers because of the difficulty in confirming dates on them.”

FTR is also done with AAA after losing the AAA World Tag Team Titles. We will have to wait and see whether AEW and AAA will ever improve their relationship, as it seems unlikely at this point in time.
