AEW has certainly made a lot of improvements to its product over the past few years. This includes the overall presentation as well as star power in every corner of the company. Be that as it may, the likelihood of similar gimmicks and whatnot is still applicable in even AEW. It seems Tony Khan was blasted for gimmick infringement after the formation of a new stable in AEW.

As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dark, Angelico, Serpentico and Luther officially formed a new team. They called themselves S.A.P., which stood for Spanish Announce Project.

This new trio was not well received by fans as well as some independent wrestlers. An independent tag team called, the S.A.T. (aka Spanish Announce Team) took to Twitter and blasted Tony Khan and AEW for gimmick infringement.

Jose Maximo and Joel Maximo have been part of the pro wrestling industry since 2000 and last competed against the Briscoes at GCW Believe Me in Atlantic City in February 2022. Jose took to Twitter and called out AEW for stealing the gimmick.

“Yo @KingSerpentico you f*g Mark literally trying to steal our gimmic and name really? You really think this is going to fly homie! I hope AEW pays you enough to just do those shows because you can’t show up to indies. #sat #realones.

Good morning everyone just a reminder that @KingSerpentico and @AngelicoAAA are bunch of marks trying to benefit from our gimmick and name. Be careful our fans are not stupid and they won’t stand for this s**t. #sat #realones #slap #onsite”

Another independent wrestler by the name of Zack Ruby took to Twitter and directly tagged AEW President Tony Khan, accusing him of gimmick infringement,

This is bs@TonyKhan. Give credit where credit is due to@realjosemaximo @RealJoelMaximo, Gimmick infringement is real.

Kinda sad you can’t do anything original & have to rip off one of the top tag teams in independent wrestling. Honestly The S.A.T. is better than the S.A.P.

We will have to wait and see whether Sepentico’s team will end up getting disbanded after these accusations. It is very likely Tony Khan will not pay heed to these accusations in the end.

What’s your take on this accusation? Sound off in the comments!
