William Regal gave four decades of his life to the pro wrestling industry. The news of William Regal’s abrupt exit from AEW was a shock, but the fact he’s going back to WWE doesn’t surprise many people. Tony Khan recently said that William Regal had a lot of ‘good reasons’ for going back.

Tony Khan said during the ROH final battle media call that William Regal had many solid reasons for returning, particularly for his son. He stated he recognized that allowing Regal out of his deal in that circumstance was the best thing for them, given where he was with his mother at the time. Sean Sapp covered the media call via his Twitter account.

Tony Khan says that William Regal had a lot of good reasons for going back, especially his son. Considering where he was with his mother at that point, he said he understood that letting Regal out of his deal in that situation was the best move for them.

Tony Khan said that William Regal is with AEW through the holidays, but they’re going to make some on-screen sacrifices to help him do the right thing for his family, because they feel it’s the right thing. Tony Khan said his mother is improving as well.

Regal was let go by WWE earlier this year, and he subsequently made his way to AEW. William Regal is expected to begin his WWE run next year for backstage role after his AEW departure. Since Lord Regal will once more be working for Triple H, we’ll have to wait and see what the WWE has in store for him.
