CM Punk kicked off AEW Dynamite this week with a promo. He called out Adam Page and issued a rematch to him for the title. However, Page never showed up, and CM Punk dubbed the entire thing as ‘less important.’ Punk then said Hangman is more about “coward sh*t” than “cowboy sh*t.”

This was seen as a very odd move on Punk’s part. CM Punk’s promo on Adam Page was not part of the plans and was shoot. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that Punk’s promo has the AEW locker room divided.

There were a few people furious at CM Punk backstage, because Hangman is a well-liked guy. So they’re mad at Punk. Also, you have people who are on Punk’s side who say Hangman started this, so they’re mad that you’re mad at CM Punk. I know this is pro wrestling, and we have the MJF deal, but I was told that it’s not. It was started when Hangman was unprofessional, and CM Punk followed that up by making Hangman look like a fool.

Alvarez went on to confirm that, “There are no plans for a CM Punk vs Hangman Page match.” We will have to see what happens, as Tony Khan now has a ready-made feud on his hands.

CM Punk’s promo on Adam Page was also receipt for what Page had said about him months prior. Page and Punk didn’t have any interactions before and after the promo, either. We’ll keep you updated on this developing story right here at Ringside News.
