Tonight’s SmackDown is set to feature a gauntlet match to determine the challenger for Liv Morgan’s SmackDown Women’s Championship at Clash as the Castle. The participants scheduled for tonight are: Raquel Rodriguez, Xia Li, Shotzi, Natalya, Shayna Baszler, Aliyah and Sonya Deville.

Also scheduled for tonight is a one-on-one match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Ludwig Kaiser.

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.

SmackDown

SmackDown kicks off with a car arriving in the parking lot. The Usos step out of the car as Roman Reigns exits the car right next to them and the three of them walk inside the arena together.

A video replay is shown of Pat McAfee defeating Happy Corbin from SummerSlam. Corbin is shown watching the replay backstage and several wrestlers are laughing behind his back. Corbin gets right is Ricochet’s face and Ricochet challenges Corbin to match to begin SmackDown.

Happy Corbin vs Ricochet

Our opening match begins with a lock up. Ricochet hits an enziguri which causes Corbin to fall outside the ring. Ricochet then hits a dive over the top rope and throws Corbin back in the ring. Corbin hits a huge lariat to send Ricochet flipping over. Ricochet goes for a springboard move but Corbin counters with an uppercut. Ricochet goes for a moonsault to the outside but Corbin dodges and throws Ricochet face first to the ring post.

*Commercial break*

The match continues live with Corbin having Ricochet in a headlock. Ricochet escapes and bounces off the ropes but Corbin counters with a back body drop which sends Ricochet extremely high in the air. Ricochet hits a flying lariat and covers for a two count. Corbin catches Ricochet in mid-air and hits ricochet with a neckbreaker, Corbin covers for two. Ricochet springs off the ropes but Corbin catches and hits Ricochet with the deep six. Corbin goes to the top rope and starts to scream at Pat McAfee, off the distraction Ricochet trips Corbin causing him to fall to the mat. Ricochet goes up top and hits the shooting star press and Ricochet covers for three.

Winner: Ricochet

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Ludwig Kaiser

The match begins with a lock up that Ludwig turns into a headlock. Ludwig hits an elbow to Nakamura’s head and Ludwig begins to stomp Nakamura in the corner. Nakamura hits a knee to the mid-section and then hits a knee drop to Ludwig’s head. Nkamura hits the running knee in the corner causing Ludwig to fall outside the ring.

*Commercial break*

The match continues live with nakamura hitting a kick to the back of the head. Nakamura hits the sliding German suplex. Gunther and Nakamura stare down outside the ring for a moment and Nakamura gets back in the ring and goes for the Kinshasa but Ludwig hits with an uppercut. Nakamura hits a kick to the head and follows with the Kinshasa, Nakamura covers for the three count.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan is introduced and she makes her way out to the ring. Morgan says that she has been feeling so many different emotions since her championship match at SummerSlam, but she came out to address what happened at the end of the match. Morgan admits she had tapped out, but she thought it was after the referee had counted three.

Morgan is interrupted by Sonya Deville making her way down to the ring. Deville says she cannot stand to see Morgan as champion, but she loves seeing her hurt. Deville says she will win the gauntlet match tonight and then take the SmackDown Women’s Championship from her.

Women’s Gauntlet match

The match begins with Deville and Aliyah as the first two participants. Aliyah hits a shoulder tackle. Deville hits a running knee and then locks Aliyah in a head lock through the ring ropes. Deville hits a spinebuster and covers for a two count. Aliyah hits a cross body off the middle rope. Deville kicks out at two and hits with the Deville’s advocate. Deville cover for three to eliminate Aliyah.

Raquel Rodriguez is the next entrant and she hits Deville with a big lariat. Deville hits a chop block and follows with a bulldog. Rodriguez hits a big boot and hits a spinning elbow splash and then Rodriguez hits the powerbomb and covers for three to eliminate Deville and then Shotzi comes out as our next entrant.

*Commercial break*

The gauntlet match continues live with Rodriguez hitting Shotzi with a fall away slam. Rodriguez power bombs and then pins Sotzi to eliminate her.

Xia Li is our next entrant and she hits a series of kicks to drop Rodriguez to one knee. Li lock in a single-leg Boston crab. Rodriguez breaks free and hits a spinning elbow drop and then another powerbomb and Li is pinned and eliminated.

Next in the match is Natalya who goes for the sharpshooter but Rodriguez escapes. Natalya goes for a leg lock but Rodriguez rolls through and hits Natalya with a vertical suplex. Natalya locks in the sharpshooter but Rodriguez is able to crawl to the ropes to force a break. Natalya hits a series of strikes in the corner but Rodriguez lifts and slams Natalya to the mat and Rodriguez covers to pin and eliminate Natalya. Shayna Baszler comes out as the final entrant in the match.

Back live with Baszler stomping on Rodriguez’s ankle on the mat. Baszler hits a knee to the face and covers for two. Rodriguez hits a running splash in to corner and goes for the spinning elbow but Baszler catches her in the Kirafuda clutch. Rodriguez gets to the ropes, Baszler rolls though into a roll up for the three count.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

The Viking Raiders vs Local Competitors

The match begins with Erik and Ivar dominating the local competitors. Erik and Ivar quickly tag in and out as they take turns hitting powerful moves. Erik hits one final slam and covers for three.

Winners: The Viking Raiders

After the squash match, Kofi Kingston runs in from behind to take out both Erik and Ivar with a kendo stick.

Kofi Kingston vs Erik

The match begins with Kingston charging to the corner. Erik flips Kingston around and hits with a knee right to the face. Kingston hits a flying cross body and gets a two count from the cover. Erik avoids the SOS and hits a big power slam. Ivar swings and misses with the kendo stick causing a distraction. Erik goes for a slam but Kingston reverses into a roll up for the three count.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Out comes The Bloodline as Roman Reigns is set to address his challenger at Clash at the Castle, Drew McIntyre.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Reigns and The Usos in the ring. Reigns grabs the mic and tells the South Carolina crowd to acknowledge him. Reigns talks about his victory over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Reigns is interrupted by Drew McIntyre who comes out who says if he didn’t come out Reigns would be talking long after SmackDown went off the air. McIntyre goes to run in the ring, all of a sudden the lights turn gray and strange music begins to play as a shadowy figure is shown on the enterance ramp, McIntyre is attacked from behind by a returning Karrion Kross. Kross beats down McIntyre and Scarlett shows up, placing the hourglass in the ring as she and Kross stare down Reigns.
