Ric Flair’s Last Match not only featured a widely anticipated main event, but it also had stacked undercard. Talent from AEW, MLW, AAA, New Japan, GCW, and more were on hand to take part in what will likely be the largest independent supershow of the year. Not everybody was able to make it to Nashville as planned.

Alexander Hammerstone is considered one of the top wrestlers in MLW. He was scheduled for an appearance at the show. Travel problems prevented him from making it, so his planned spot went to Jacob Fatu. The Von Erichs also had issues getting there, but did arrive late, so their match with The Briscoes was moved to later in the card.

On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how things changed. Nothing major had to be re-written. Hammerstone was scheduled for a spot with Frank the Clown that ended up going to Fatu.

“The… Von Erichs arrived late, so that’s why that match was later in the show, due to a flight delay coming from Hawaii and Alexander Hammerstone was supposed to be on the show and I guess his flight was canceled, so the spot with Frank the Clown was supposed to be with Alexander Hammerstone, but it ended up being with Jacob Fatu which is why Jacob Fatu ended up in two different spots on the show.”

In the end, the show mostly went off without a hitch. Regardless of how fans feel, Ric Flair went out on his own terms. The event also brought together some of the top names from around the world to showcase their talents on a bigger stage than usual.
