AEW has a proclivity of inviting former WWE superstars to their tapings. This trend is not going to end any time soon, because another former WWE NXT star is now working for Tony Khan. Troy ‘Two Dimes’ Donovan did not get much time to prove himself before he was fired by WWE. Two Dimes teamed with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Tony D’Angelo in a gang war with Legado Del Fantasma at the recent In Your House premium live event as well. Troy has most recently appeared in AEW Dark tapings.

Today at the AEW Dark tapings in Orlando, Florida, a recently released WWE NXT wrestler performed. Cole Karter was present, according to JJ Williams, who is watching the tapings. Karter formerly competed as Tony D’Angelo’s goon Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan in NXT.

According to reports, Karter was fired by the corporation for breaking a “regulation.” Donovan failed a drug test, according to a later claim by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. According to reports, John Laurinaitis advised Donovan to reapply for employment in a year if everything is in order so that he can eventually join WWE.

Because some NXT episodes were pre-taped, Donovan appeared on one more episode before leaving television. The following week, it was implied that he had been killed off because it was stated that he was “swimming with the fishes” after he had reportedly been tossed from a bridge.

Donovan has previously worked bouts for AEW. Last year, he previously participated in some Dark tapings. Prior to today’s recording, he last made an appearance on Dark on the show from October 23 alongside Carlie Bravo and Arjun Singh. They were defeated by Paul Wight in a 3-on-1 handicap game.
